Grace · The through-line of the book · 1

But you have come to Mount Zion… and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

Hebrews 12:22–24 · NASB 1995

You have not come to a mountain of threat. You have come to Jesus, and to a blood that is still speaking. Abel’s blood cried justice from the dirt and the ground answered with a curse. Jesus’ blood speaks a better word.

On the cross, before anyone asked well, His mouth opened: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. That is the better word. It is the sound the earth has been waiting to hear from the rest of us.
