…and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
Naming was not a children’s game. God handed Adam a share in what God does: open your mouth and release a sound that assigns nature. Lion. Eagle. Snail. The word was stronger than a label. Creation aligned with what he called it.
That assignment has not expired. Death and life are still in the power of the tongue. This is true of believers and, soberingly, of every image-bearer. Most people have no idea they are that dangerous — to darkness, or to the world around them.
